Overview
The system hole settings control adjustable shelf boring on cabinet ends and partitions. These parameters let you choose the boring method, set hole dimensions and spacing, position the rows, and adjust shelf reference points. Additional settings control hardware boring, mirrored hinge holes, and through boring where holes align on both sides of a panel.
Understanding Boring Options
Mozaik provides several boring methods. The method you select determines how shelf holes are generated and whether hardware uses the system holes or separate boring.
Linebore: Holes are added throughout the panel. Door and drawer hardware aligns with the system holes, and separate hardware holes are removed.
When to use: When your construction requires a continuous system hole pattern with hardware aligned to that pattern.
Important: Removing system holes while using this method can affect the holes available for mounting hardware.
Shotgun Bore: Holes are added throughout the panel. Hardware is bored separately using the hardware settings.
When to use: When you want a continuous shelf hole pattern while keeping hardware boring independent.
Series of Holes: Shelf holes use a user-defined spacing. Hardware is bored separately.
When to use: When you want to specify the spacing between shelf holes using SeriesHolesSpacing.
1, 3, 5, or 7 Holes per Shelf: The selected number of holes is added at each adjustable shelf location.
When to use: When you want shelf adjustment holes near the shelves instead of a continuous pattern throughout the panel.
None: No adjustable shelf boring is added.
Important: This selection controls adjustable shelf boring. Review the selected hardware and its boring settings separately.

Hole Size and Spacing Parameters
SysHoleDia - System Hole Diameter
Purpose: Sets the diameter of the system holes.
How it works: Select the hole diameter required for your shelf supports.
Available options:
• 1/4 inch
• 3 mm
• 5 mm
• 7 mm
Important: Match the hole diameter to the shelf support hardware you intend to use.
SysHoleD - System Hole Depth
Purpose: Sets how deeply the system holes are drilled.
How it works: Enter the required drilling depth.
Application: System holes used for adjustable shelf supports.
Important: Check the required support insertion depth and panel thickness before machining.
SysHoleSpacing - System Hole Spacing
Purpose: Sets the spacing between holes in the applicable boring pattern.
How it works: Enter the required hole spacing.
Application: The reference identifies Linebore and the 3, 5, or 7 Holes per Shelf options.
Important: Series of Holes uses the separate SeriesHolesSpacing parameter.
SeriesHolesSpacing - Spacing Between Series Holes
Purpose: Sets the distance between adjustable shelf holes when using Series of Holes.
How it works: Enter the required spacing between holes.
Application: Cabinets using the Series of Holes boring method.
Important: Choose the boring method first, then adjust its corresponding spacing parameter.
Vertical Linebore Reference Parameters
32mmRef - Linebore Reference
Purpose: Selects the end of the panel used to reference the first system hole.
Options:
• Top
• Bottom
How it works:
• Top: References the first hole from the top of the panel.
• Bottom: References the first hole from the bottom of the panel.
Parameter interaction: Use 32mmTopRef or 32mmBotRef for the starting distance. Use 32mmLastHole to control the minimum clearance at the opposite end.
32mmTopRef - Top Linebore Reference Distance
Purpose: Sets the distance from the top edge of the part to the center of the first system hole.
How it works: Enter the required top reference distance.
Application: Top-referenced line boring.
Important: Measure to the center of the hole.
32mmBotRef - Bottom Linebore Reference Distance
Purpose: Sets the distance from the bottom edge of the part to the center of the first system hole.
How it works: Enter the required bottom reference distance.
Application: Bottom-referenced line boring.
Important: Use the part edge shown in the reference illustration when checking the dimension.
32mmLastHole - Minimum Distance from Last Hole to Panel End
Purpose: Sets the minimum clearance between the last hole and the opposite end of the panel.
How it works:
• When 32mmRef is Bottom, this parameter applies to the last hole near the top.
• When 32mmRef is Top, this parameter applies to the last hole near the bottom.
Important: This is a minimum end clearance. It does not set the spacing between consecutive holes.
32mmBal - Balanced Linebore Pattern
Purpose: Centers the linebore pattern vertically in the panel.
How it works: Coordinates the starting reference and 32mmLastHole so the clearances at the top and bottom are equal.
Set to YES: Balances the pattern vertically.
When to use: When you want equal end clearances rather than a pattern positioned solely from one end.
Important: Balancing can adjust the resulting starting clearance. Review it together with the reference and last-hole settings.
Front and Rear Row Parameters
32mmFrLBIn - Front Linebore Setback
Purpose: Sets the front row location relative to the front of the case.
How it works: Enter the distance from the case front to the centerline of the front boring row.
Application: Positions the front system hole row.
Important: In Linebore mode, hardware aligns with the system holes. Check hardware alignment before changing this setback.
32mmRrLBIn - Rear Linebore Setback
Purpose: Sets the rear row location relative to the rear of the case.
How it works: Enter the distance from the rear of the case to the centerline of the rear boring row.
Application: Positions the rear system hole row.
Important: The reference is the rear of the case. Do not assume the measurement starts at the inside face of the back panel.
Third Row Parameters
32mmThirdRow - Enable Third Row
Purpose: Enables a third row of system holes.
How it works: Select YES to add the third row.
Application: Parts requiring an additional boring row between the front and rear rows.
Parameter interaction: Review 32mmThirdRowMin, 32mmThirdRowRef, and 32mmThirdRowLoc when enabling this option.
32mmThirdRowMin - Minimum Part Width for Third Row
Purpose: Sets the minimum part width required to receive a third row.
How it works: Enter the minimum qualifying width.
Application: Controls which parts can receive the additional row.
Important: Enabling 32mmThirdRow does not mean every part will receive it. The part must also meet the minimum width requirement.
32mmThirdRowRef - Third Row Reference
Purpose: Selects the reference used to position the third row.
Options:
• Front
• Center
• Back
How it works: Choose the reference point from which the third row location is measured.
Parameter interaction: Works with 32mmThirdRowLoc.
32mmThirdRowLoc - Third Row Location
Purpose: Sets the third row position relative to the selected reference.
How it works:
• Front reference: Enter the distance from the front reference to the third row.
• Back reference: Enter the distance from the back reference to the third row.
• Center reference: Enter the offset from the center.
Direction note: In the supplied center-reference illustration, a positive value moves the row toward the front, and a negative value moves it toward the back.
Important: Check 32mmThirdRowRef before changing the location value.
Adjustable Shelf Boring Parameters
AdjShBoreRef - Adjustable Shelf Boring Reference
Purpose: Selects how the adjustable shelf position references the shelf bore.
Application: Used with the 1, 3, 5, or 7 Holes per Shelf options.
Options:
• Bottom
• Center
How it works:
• Bottom: References the bottom of the shelf bore.
• Center: References the center of the shelf bore.
When to use: When matching the shelf location to the way your shelf support hardware sits in the hole.
Important: This is a shelf-to-bore reference. It is separate from 32mmRef, which selects the top or bottom of the panel.
AdjShBoreAdj - Adjustable Shelf Boring Adjustment
Purpose: Moves the shelf boring reference point up or down.
Application: Used with the 1, 3, 5, or 7 Holes per Shelf options.
How it works:
• Positive value: Moves the boring reference upward.
• Negative value: Moves the boring reference downward.
When to use: When the boring location needs an additional adjustment relative to the adjustable shelf.
Parameter interaction: Select AdjShBoreRef first, then apply the required adjustment with AdjShBoreAdj.
Hardware Boring Parameters
FFBoreEnd - Bore Face Frame Ends for Hardware
Purpose: Adds mounting hardware boring in face frame construction.
How it works: Select YES to add hardware boring in the cabinet ends.
Application: Face frame cabinets requiring mounting holes in the end panels.
Important: This setting concerns boring in the cabinet ends for face frame construction.
MirrorBore - Mirror Hinge Boring to the Opposite End
Purpose: Adds matching hinge boring to the opposite cabinet end for a single hinged door.
How it works:
• YES: Mirrors the hinge boring onto the opposite cabinet end.
• NO: Does not add the mirrored hinge boring.
Application: Cabinets with a single hinged door where matching hinge mounting holes are required on both ends.
Important: Mirrored hinge holes are separate from the adjustable shelf boring pattern.
Automatic Through Boring
AutoLBThruBore - Through Bore Matching Linebores
Purpose: Converts matching linebores on opposite faces of a vertical cabinet member into through holes.
How it works: When the linebores align exactly on both sides of the part, Mozaik creates a through bore.
Application: Vertical members, such as partitions, with matching boring on both faces.
Benefit: Eliminates flip side machining for those matching linebore holes.
Important: The holes must align exactly. Other operations on the part may still require flip side machining.

Troubleshooting System Hole and Line Boring Issues
Issue: Adjustable shelf holes are missing
• Check the boring selection for the correct cabinet type.
• Confirm it is not set to None.
• If using holes per shelf, verify that the cabinet contains adjustable shelves at the intended locations.
Issue: Too many shelf holes are being generated
• Check whether Linebore or Shotgun Bore is selected; both add holes throughout the panel.
• Consider a holes-per-shelf option when you only need adjustment holes near each shelf.
• Review hardware boring after changing the method.
Issue: Hardware holes are missing after changing the boring method
• Check whether the cabinet previously used Linebore, where hardware aligns with the system holes and separate hardware holes are removed.
• When using Shotgun Bore or Series of Holes, review the separate hardware settings.
• For face frame cabinet ends, check FFBoreEnd.
Issue: The first hole is measured from the wrong end
• Check 32mmRef.
• Use 32mmTopRef for a top reference or 32mmBotRef for a bottom reference.
• Review 32mmBal, which can adjust the pattern to equalize the end clearances.
Issue: Holes extend too close to the opposite end
• Review 32mmLastHole.
• Confirm which end is opposite the selected 32mmRef.
Issue: Changing the spacing value has no effect
• Confirm the selected boring method.
• Use SeriesHolesSpacing for Series of Holes.
• Use SysHoleSpacing for the Linebore or 3, 5, or 7 Holes per Shelf options identified in the reference.
Issue: The third row is missing
• Confirm 32mmThirdRow is enabled.
• Check whether the part meets 32mmThirdRowMin.
• Review the selected reference and location.
Issue: Shelf boring is too high or too low
• Check AdjShBoreRef.
• Review AdjShBoreAdj.
• Positive adjustments move the boring reference upward; negative adjustments move it downward.
Issue: Unexpected hinge holes appear on the opposite end
• Check MirrorBore.
• Select NO if mirrored hinge boring is not required.
Issue: Matching partition holes still require boring from both faces
• Review AutoLBThruBore.
• Confirm the holes align exactly on both faces.
• Check whether other operations still require flip side machining.

Parameter Interactions to Know
SysHoles, SysHolesT, and SysHolesW
These select the boring method for base, tall, and wall cabinets. The method determines how shelf holes are generated and how hardware boring is handled.
SysHoleSpacing and SeriesHolesSpacing
These apply to different boring methods. Select the method first, then use the corresponding spacing parameter.
32mmRef, 32mmTopRef, and 32mmBotRef
32mmRef selects the starting end. The corresponding reference distance positions the first hole.
32mmLastHole and 32mmBal
32mmLastHole sets the minimum clearance at the opposite end. 32mmBal coordinates the end clearances to center the pattern vertically.
Third Row Settings
32mmThirdRow enables the row. 32mmThirdRowMin controls part eligibility. 32mmThirdRowRef and 32mmThirdRowLoc control its position.
AdjShBoreRef and AdjShBoreAdj
AdjShBoreRef establishes the shelf-to-bore reference. AdjShBoreAdj adds an upward or downward adjustment for the holes-per-shelf methods.
MirrorBore and Shelf Boring
MirrorBore adds hinge boring to the opposite cabinet end. It does not select the adjustable shelf hole pattern.
AutoLBThruBore and Opposing Hole Locations
Through boring depends on exact alignment between the holes on both faces. Different hole locations will not meet that condition.
