The Guides Tab in the Hardware Library is used to set up the specifications for Under Mount, Side Mount, and Metal Drawer guide systems. These settings control drawer box sizing, boring operations, pricing, and which guide part numbers are available for use in your cabinets.
Guide Setup
- Guide Name — Select the guide from the dropdown list at the top of the Guides Tab.
- Guide Type — Select Side Mount, Under Mount, or Metal Drawer. This is an important setting — it affects which options are available for the guide and controls how the drawer box width is sized.
- Pricing — Enter the Cost, Markup %, and/or Add-On $ for the guide. If Use Guide Lengths is enabled, cost is entered per guide length in the Guide Length Table instead of in this field.
- Sockets — Used for framed construction methods. Adds holes into the back of the cabinet for mounting rear guide sockets.
- Comment — Enter any notes or additional description for the guide.
- Guide Clearances — Enter the clearances for the guide. This determines how the drawer box is sized. Width sizing varies between Side Mount and Under Mount guide types.
- Boring Parameters — Enter the depth, diameter, and reference point used for boring operations.
- Boring into Cabinet Side — Enter the insets required for boring the guide into the cabinet side. Holes are referenced from the drawer box front, and you can choose which holes are used per guide length. Hole locations can be found in the manufacturer's spec sheets.
- Use Guide Lengths — Check this option to enter more than one guide length for the selected guide type. When enabled, cost is entered per length in the Guide Length Table rather than in the single Pricing field.
- Use Spacers — Choose whether drawer spacers are applied to Trays, Drawers, or both.
- Spacers — Click Spacers to open the spacer specification menu and configure spacer settings.
Guide Length Table
When Use Guide Lengths is enabled, the Guide Length Table lists every guide length associated with the selected guide. To add a new guide length, start typing in the bottom cell.
- Part Number — The part number, which appears on pricing reports and hardware lists.
- Description — A description or note for the guide length.
- Length — The guide length, chosen based on drawer box depth.
- Price — The cost for the guide length.
- Hole Pattern — The guide hole pattern, referencing the hole setbacks entered under Boring into Cabinet Side. Separate setback numbers with commas (e.g. 1,2,4,6).
- Box Depth Adj — A box depth adjustment value.
- Spacer Pattern — The spacer hole pattern, referencing the same hole setbacks. Separate setback numbers with commas (e.g. 1,2,4,6).
Metal Drawer Settings
- Metal Guide Clearance — Choose the top, bottom, and rear clearances required for the metal guide. These clearances determine which metal guide depth/height is selected.
- Metal Guide Table — Lists all guide lengths and heights associated with the selected metal guide. Most common metal guides are provided by Mozaik — go to Tools > Import Updated Data to download metal guide data.
Note: Unchecking Use on a guide in the Metal Guide Table prevents Mozaik from automatically selecting that height or depth. The guide can still be used if manually selected through a cabinet-level override.
Metal Guide Table Toolbar Use the toolbar along the bottom of the Metal Guide Table to manage guide part numbers:
- Add — Adds a new metal guide part number.
- Edit — Opens the metal guide editor for the selected part.
- Delete — Deletes the selected guide part.
- Move Up — Moves the selected guide up in the list.
- Move Down — Moves the selected guide down in the list.
- Copy — Copies the selected guide.
- Paste — Pastes a copied guide.
Guide Sidebar Tools
The sidebar buttons manage guide series as a whole, separate from individual part numbers:
- Add — Adds a new guide series.
- Delete — Deletes the guide series.
- Rename — Renames the guide.
- Export — Exports the guide.
- Import — Imports a guide.
- Specs — Opens the guide spec document. Add the document to the C:\Mozaik\Data\Specs folder and name it the same as the guide's name.

Common Issues
- Guide not sizing the drawer box correctly: Check the Guide Clearances settings and confirm the correct Guide Type is selected, since width sizing differs between Side Mount and Under Mount.
- Boring holes not appearing where expected: Review the Boring into Cabinet Side insets against the manufacturer's spec sheet, and confirm the correct holes are selected for the guide length in use.
- Metal guide not being selected automatically: Check the Use column in the Metal Guide Table — an unchecked guide will not be auto-selected and must be applied via a cabinet-level override.
Troubleshooting
- Cost fields on the main Guides Tab only apply when Use Guide Lengths is unchecked; once enabled, pricing must be entered per length in the Guide Length Table.
- Hole Pattern and Spacer Pattern values in the Guide Length Table depend on the setback numbers entered under Boring into Cabinet Side — confirm those setbacks are entered first.
- New metal guide data is not automatic; use Tools > Import Updated Data to pull updated metal guide part numbers from Mozaik.
