Add JPEG textures to change the appearance of cabinets, countertops, backsplashes, floors, walls, and hardware. In Mozaik, you must place each image in the correct folder, import it into a texture group, and apply it to your job. Set the image dimensions to make tiles and brick appear at the correct scale.
See Video: Adding Textures
1. Prepare and import your images
Save your texture images as JPEG files. In File Explorer, open the Textures folder inside your Mozaik installation on the C: drive, or the corresponding folder on your file sharing drive.
| Texture use | Folder inside Textures | Import location in Mozaik |
|---|---|---|
| Cabinets and molding | Wood | Libraries > Materials > Texture Groups > Cabinet textures |
| Countertops and backsplashes | Tops | Libraries > Materials > Texture Groups > Countertop textures |
| Floors | Floor | Settings > Setup Textures > Floor |
| Walls, masonry, and ceilings | Walls | Settings > Setup Textures > Wall |
| Hardware, faucets, and other graphics | Colors | Settings > Setup Textures > Graphic |
Note: Use the Wood folder for molding textures. The separate Molding folder is no longer used in the workflow shown in this video.
- Copy each JPEG into the appropriate folder above. You can use subfolders, such as Wood > Default or Tops > Backsplash.
- In Mozaik, open the matching import location. For cabinet textures, select the group you want to use, such as Default.
- Click the green plus sign, select your JPEG, and click Open. Repeat for each texture.
- Scroll to the bottom of the list to find the new textures. Use the available arrows to change their position, then click OK to save.
2. Apply textures to your job
Cabinets
- Open the job’s Materials tab and click the texture image for the cabinet material you want to change.
- Search for the imported texture by name and select it.
- Update the corresponding texture in your material template and edge banding as needed. The video demonstrates this with dynamic materials.
Walls, floors, and hardware
- Open the Textures tab.
- Click the image for the surface you want to change, such as Wall, Floor, Masonry, or Hardware.
- Type part of the texture name to filter the list, then select the new texture.
Fireplace T walls
If the fireplace uses T walls, assign the texture to those walls individually.
- Open the Room tab and select a fireplace T wall.
- Click its texture selector, search for the imported brick texture, and select it.
- Repeat for each fireplace T wall, then check the result in the 3D viewer.
Backsplashes
- Open the Tops tab, select the wall with the backsplash, and open its elevation.
- Select the backsplash. In the texture controls at the bottom, click the splash texture image.
- Search for and select your imported backsplash texture. Repeat for each backsplash section.
3. Set the correct texture scale
Use the real dimensions represented by the entire JPEG, including all tiles or bricks visible in the image. Do not enter the size of one tile unless the image contains only one tile.
- Return to the texture’s import location from the table above and select the texture.
- For backsplash textures, change Image Size in the countertop texture group. For floor or wall textures, change Image Width and Image Height in Setup Textures.
- Enter the full image dimensions using the examples below as a guide, then click OK to save.
- Check the result in the 3D viewer.
| Example | Image width | Image height |
|---|---|---|
| Backsplash: six 2-inch tiles across and six high | 12 in | 12 in |
| Floor: three 24-inch tile lengths across and three 12-inch rows high | 72 in | 36 in |
| Brick: one and a half 8-inch brick lengths across and four 3-inch rows high | 12 in | 12 in |
Troubleshooting
- Texture is missing from the selector: Confirm that the JPEG is in the correct folder and that you imported it with the green plus sign. Check the bottom of the texture list.
- Tiles or bricks look too large or too small: Recalculate the dimensions of the entire image and update its size in the original texture group.
- Only part of the design changed: Apply the texture to each affected backsplash section or T wall. For cabinets, check the material, material template, and edge banding.
Common issues
- Backsplash texture is in the wrong group: Import it under Countertop textures using the Tops folder.
- Floor pattern runs in the wrong direction: Enable Rotate for that texture in Setup Textures > Floor.
