Overview
This guide explains how drawer guides (slides) are configured in Mozaik and how those settings are used to automatically size and apply drawer boxes. Drawer guide configuration is handled through the Hardware Library → Guides Tab and directly affects drawer box width, depth, clearances, boring, and hardware selection.
Mozaik supports:
- Side Mount drawer guides
- Under Mount drawer guides
- Metal drawer systems
Understanding these settings ensures drawer boxes are sized correctly and that the proper hardware is selected during production.
Accessing Drawer Guide Settings
- Open Mozaik
- Navigate to Libraries → Hardware Library
- Select the Guides tab
This area is where all drawer guide series and specifications are managed.
Creating or Selecting a Drawer Guide
Guide Name
- Select an existing guide from the dropdown
- Or create a new guide series using the sidebar tools
Guide Type (Critical Setting)
Select the correct guide type:
- Side Mount
- Under Mount
- Metal Drawer System
⚠️ The guide type determines:
- Drawer box width calculations
- Available clearance options
- Hardware behavior throughout Mozaik
Pricing (Optional)
You may enter:
- Cost
- Markup percentage
- Add-on price
If Guide Lengths are enabled, pricing is typically entered per guide length.
Guide Clearances (How Drawer Boxes Are Sized)
Guide clearances directly control drawer box sizing.
Enter clearances for:
- Top, Bottom, Side (Undermount and Side Mount)
- Top, Bottom, Rear (metal drawers)
Mozaik uses these values to automatically calculate drawer box dimensions.
Note: Clearance behavior differs between Side Mount, Under Mount, and Metal Drawer guides.
Boring Parameters and Cabinet Side Boring
Boring Parameters
Define:
- Hole diameter
- Hole depth
- Reference point
These settings control CNC boring operations for drawer guides.
Boring Into Cabinet Side
- Enter setback distances from the drawer box front
- These locations should match the manufacturer’s specification sheets
You can selectively apply hole patterns per guide length.
Using Guide Lengths
Enable Use Guide Lengths if the guide is available in multiple sizes.
For each guide length, you can define:
- Part number
- Description
- Length
- Cost
- Hole pattern
- Box depth adjustment
- Spacer pattern
Mozaik automatically selects the appropriate guide length based on the drawer box depth.
Spacers (Optional)
Use Spacers
Enable this option if spacers are required for drawers or trays.
Spacer Setup
- Click Spacers to open the spacer configuration
- Assign spacer hole patterns as needed
Metal Drawer System Settings (If Applicable)
Metal Guide Clearance
Define:
- Top clearance
- Bottom clearance
- Rear clearance
These values determine which metal drawer depth and height Mozaik selects.
Metal Guide Table
- Contains available metal drawer depths and heights
- Mozaik provides common metal drawer systems by default
- Additional data can be downloaded via Tools → Import Updated Data
You may disable unused sizes to prevent automatic selection.
Applying Drawer Guides to Drawer Boxes
Once configured:
- Drawer guides are applied automatically when selected in the settings tab in Mozaik:
- Drawer box dimensions adjust based on guide clearances
- Correct guide lengths and hardware are selected during design
Manual overrides are available at the cabinet or product level if needed.
Best Practices
- Always verify guide type before configuring clearances
- Match boring locations to manufacturer specs
- Keep guide libraries standardized across projects
- Test drawer sizing with a sample cabinet before production
Result
When drawer guides are properly configured in the Hardware Library, Mozaik will automatically size drawer boxes, apply correct clearances, generate accurate boring, and include the correct hardware in reports and CNC output.
