Scribe parameters control the gaps (scribes) Mozaik leaves between face frame members and the panels they meet — ends, tops, bottoms, stretchers, shelves, and backs. These settings affect fit, reveal, and how flush your parts sit against the face frame.
End Scribes
FEScribe — Finished End Scribe
Sets the distance the frame extends beyond a finished end. If the finished end is not flush with the edge of the face frame, enter the value it's inset from the edge.
UEScribe — Unfinished End Scribe
Sets the distance the frame extends beyond an unfinished end, measured between the outside of the frame and the outside of the unfinished end.
45CabScribe — Scribe for 45 Degree Corner Cabinet Unfinished Ends
Sets the amount the side end panels are inset on a 45-degree corner cabinet.
Stretcher Scribes
StretcherScribe — Top Scribe for Rear Stretchers on Base Cabinets
Sets the top scribe (gap) between the face frame and the rear stretcher on base cabinets.
StretcherScribeFront — Top Scribe for Front Stretchers on Base Cabinets
Sets the top scribe (gap) between the face frame and the front stretcher on base cabinets.
Top Scribes
TScribe — Top Scribe for Base Cabinets
Sets the top scribe (gap) between the face frame and the top on base cabinets.
TScribeW — Top Scribe for Wall and Tall Cabinets
Sets the top scribe (gap) between the face frame and the top on wall and tall cabinets.
TScribeWRef — Reference Point for Wall Top Scribe
Choose whether to reference the Top Scribe on a Wall Cabinet from the top of the Top Rail to the top of the Top, or from the bottom of the Top Rail to the bottom of the Top.
- Top — Measures from the top of the Top Rail to the top of the Top.
- Bottom — Measures from the bottom of the Top Rail to the bottom of the Top.
Back and Interior Scribes
BackTopScribe — Back Top Scribe (Plant On Backs)
Sets the top scribe (gap) between the top of the case and a Plant On Back.
BotIntScribe — Interior Scribe on Bottoms
Sets the scribe (gap) between the face frame and the bottom panel, measured on the interior.
FixShIntScribe — Interior Scribe on Fixed Shelves
Sets the scribe (gap) between the face frame and a fixed shelf, measured on the interior.
Global Scribe Reference
ScribeRef — Measure Scribe from Exterior or Interior
Choose whether to reference your scribe from the outside edge of the Stile (Exterior), or the inside edge of the Stile (Interior).
- Exterior — References the scribe from the outside edge of the Stile.
- Interior — References the scribe from the inside edge of the Stile.

Common Issues
- Scribe gap not appearing where expected: Confirm ScribeRef is set to the edge (Exterior/Interior) you intended — this affects every scribe measurement globally.
- Finished end not showing the expected reveal: Check FEScribe — if it's set to 0, the end will be flush with the face frame.
- Top Scribe on wall cabinets measuring from the wrong point: Review TScribeWRef — confirm whether it should reference from the Top or Bottom of the Top Rail.
Troubleshooting
- ScribeRef applies globally to all scribe parameters — changing it shifts every scribe measurement in the job, not just one.
- TScribeWRef only affects Wall Cabinets; it has no effect on base cabinet Top Scribe behavior.
- 45CabScribe only applies to unfinished ends on 45-degree corner cabinets — it has no effect on standard square cabinets.
