When Mozaik processes door/drawer or an end/back panel, it automatically looks for an Outside Edge Tool assigned in your Mozaik Settings. If the tool listed in your settings does not exist in your active toolset, Mozaik cannot complete the operation. (example below):
This article explains why this happens and how to fix it.
Why This Happens
End panels and back panels are assigned an Outside Edge Tool in Mozaik Settings. The most common default is Use Cutout Tool. However, if your settings reference a specific tool (such as 1/4" Compression) and that tool does not exist in your current toolset, Mozaik cannot assign it and will not provide you with cutout tooling data.
How to Fix It
You have two options:
Option 1 — Select a Different Tool (Quickest Fix)
Go to Mozaik Settings
Locate the Outside Edge Tool setting for doors/end panels / back panels
Change the selection to a tool that already exists in your toolset (e.g., Use Cutout Tool)
Save your settings and re-run the operation
Option 2 — Add the Missing Tool to Your Toolset
Open your Toolset in Mozaik
Add the missing tool (e.g., 1/4" Compression) to your toolset
Save your toolset
Re-run the operation — Mozaik will now find the tool and process your panels correctly
Note: If you are unsure which tool to select, the safest default is Use Cutout Tool. This uses the same tool already configured for your standard cutout operations.
Common Issues
Error still appears after changing settings: Make sure you reoptimize after making the adjustment
Tool added but still not recognized: Save and close your toolset completely, then reload your job and try again.
Not sure which tool is missing: The error should reference the exact tool name — match that name exactly when adding it to your toolset.
