Overview
If you receive the error message "These files were created from a newer version of Mozaik", it means the files you are attempting to open or import were saved using a more recent version of Mozaik than the one currently installed on your system.
Cause
Mozaik files are not backward compatible. When a file is created or saved in a newer version of Mozaik, older versions of the software cannot open it.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, you will need to update your current version of Mozaik.
Step 1: Verify Your Current Version
- Open Mozaik
- Navigate to Help → About
- Note the version number currently installed
Step 2: Update Mozaik
Update Mozaik to the latest available version using the official update instructions.

After updating, restart Mozaik and attempt to open or import the files again.
Result
Once Mozaik has been updated to a version equal to or newer than the one used to create the files, the files should open without error.

- Always ensure all systems sharing files are running compatible Mozaik versions
