The Patterns Tab is where you review your nested cut sheets after the Optimizer runs. This is your last stop before generating G-Code — use it to check your layouts, handle any unplaced parts, and flag anything that needs to be recut.
1. Viewing Your Patterns
The Materials list on the left shows all materials in the job. Click a material to display its nested sheets in the main viewing area.
Each sheet is shown as a thumbnail. To get a closer look at any sheet, double-click it to open an expanded single-sheet view. Click View All Patterns to return to the thumbnail view.
Note: Parts highlighted in green have operations on the flip side. These need to be addressed before cutting.
2. Left Panel Options
- View Remake Bin — Shows parts flagged for recutting. See the Remake Bin section below.
- View Parts List — Displays all parts for the selected material or the currently viewed sheet. Click any part in the list to highlight it in red on the pattern.
- View Unplaced Parts — Shows any parts that were not placed during optimization, including parts that were too large to fit on a sheet. Click a part and drag it onto a sheet to place it manually.
3. The Remake Bin
If a part gets damaged or moved during production after G-Code has already been generated, drag that part from the pattern into the Remake Bin. From there you can drag it onto the last sheet or add it to a new sheet for recutting. Parts from different jobs can appear here together.
Click Save to Library to save the remake parts for future reference.
4. Side Toolbar
These buttons are available when viewing all patterns:
- Add Sheet — Adds a new blank sheet to the end of the run
- Edit Sheet — Opens the Sheet Editor to adjust the sheet size
- Edit Part — Edit the shape or operations of a selected part
- Generate G-Code — Generates G-Code for all sheets at once. If you are viewing a single sheet, it will generate for that sheet only
- Flip Parts — Flips all parts that have machining on the backside only
- View All Patterns — Returns to the full thumbnail view after viewing a single sheet
- Print — Prints the current pattern or all patterns
5. Sheet Tools
These additional tools become available when you are viewing a single sheet:
- Label Editor (tag icon) — Edit the position of labels for automatic labeling on your machine
- 3D Viewer — View the current sheet in Mozaik's 3D viewer
- SketchUp — Open the current sheet in SketchUp
Troubleshooting
- Some parts are missing from my patterns: Click View Unplaced Parts to find them. Parts may have been too large to fit on the available sheets. You can drag them manually onto a sheet.
- A part is highlighted green on the sheet: That part has operations on the flip side. Select it and use Flip Parts to bring those operations face up before generating G-Code.
- I need to recut a part after G-Code was already generated: Drag the part from the pattern into the Remake Bin, then place it on an existing sheet or a new sheet and regenerate G-Code for that sheet only.
- I only want to generate G-Code for one sheet: Double-click the sheet to open the single-sheet view, then click Generate GCode. It will only generate for that sheet.
