The Parts Tab shows all the parts for your job, organized by material. This is where you review, adjust, and manage individual parts before running the Optimizer. Any changes you make here only affect the current optimization run — nothing in your original Mozaik job will be changed.
1. Selecting Your Material
Use the Material dropdown at the top left to switch between materials. The parts list will update to show only the parts for the selected material.
2. The Parts List
The parts list shows all parts for the selected material, including shape, quantity, name, width, length, edgeband, and color.
You can click directly on the Quantity, Name, Width, or Length fields to manually override the value for this run.
Note: Changes made here only affect the Optimizer. Your original Mozaik job will not be modified.
Use the Color dropdown on any part to assign a color for tracking special parts on the nested sheet.
After running the Optimizer, these additional fields will populate:
- Pattern # — The sheet where the part is located
- Run # — The optimization run the part belongs to
- Cut — Indicates whether the part's sheet has been flagged as cut
3. Importing Parts
Click Import Parts to bring additional parts into the current run. Three options are available:
- From CSV — Adds parts to the end of the current run. Useful for adding stock parts or combining parts from multiple jobs. If combining jobs, change cabinet numbers in Mozaik before exporting.
- From DXF — Adds custom-shaped parts using ACAD R12 closed polyline DXF files only. Note: custom operations are not automatically assigned tools.
- From XML — Imports parts from an XML file.
4. Exporting Parts
Click Export Parts to save parts out of the Optimizer in several formats:
- To CSV — Exports a comma-separated file of the currently selected parts
- To DXF — Exports a layered DXF file for each individual part. You can also export the entire sheet after optimizing via File > Export DXF
- To XML — Exports selected parts to an XML file
- To ARDIS — Exports parts formatted for ARDIS panel saw software
- To MAGIS — Export parts to MAGIS
- To Holzma — Export parts to Holzma
- To GANNOMAT — Export to GANNOMAT
- To SCM CSV — Export to SCM CSV
5. Parts List Summary
The bar at the bottom of the parts list shows a summary of the total part count and total square footage for the selected material. Use this as a quick sanity check before running the Optimizer.
6. Side Toolbar
The toolbar on the right side of the screen gives you additional control over individual parts.
- Edit Part Shape — Opens the selected part in the Shape Editor to modify its shape
- Edit Part Operations — Opens the selected part in the Shape Editor on the Operations Tab
- Edge band Legend — Displays edge band settings for the job. Edge banding can only be changed in Mozaik due to part sizing
- Rotate Part — Rotates the selected part 90 degrees with each click
- Add Part — Adds a new part to the end of the list. You can also double-click the blank line at the bottom of the list
- Delete Part — Deletes the selected part. Mozaik will ask you to confirm before deleting
- Flip Parts — If a part has operations on the side facing down, it will appear highlighted in green. Click Flip Parts to flip it face up. If it stays green, the part has operations on both sides
- Remake Library — Access any parts flagged for recutting. These parts can be from different jobs
Troubleshooting
- I don't see my parts in the list: Make sure you have the correct material selected in the Material dropdown. Parts are organized by material.
- A part is highlighted green: The part has operations on the side facing down. Select it and click Flip Parts to correct this before optimizing.
- I need to combine parts from two jobs: Use Import Parts > From XML. Make sure you update cabinet numbers in Mozaik before exporting to avoid numbering conflicts.
- I changed a part size but my Mozaik job didn't update: This is expected. Changes in the Optimizer only apply to the current run and do not update the original Mozaik job.
