Overview
Mozaik includes Small Parts Handling options within the Optimizer to help prevent small parts from shifting, tipping, or becoming damaged during the nesting and cutting process. These settings are configured directly within the Toolpath Properties.
Where to Access Small Parts Handling
Small Parts Handling options are located in the Optimizer.
- Open the Optimizer
- Navigate to Toolpath Properties

Small Parts Handling Options
Within Toolpath Properties, several Small Parts Handling features can be enabled and customized.
Skin and Tab Options
You can apply:
- Skins to leave a thin layer of material holding the part in place
- Tabs to secure parts during cutting
These options help prevent small parts from moving or being pulled into the cutter.

Small Part Size Threshold
You can specify the minimum part size that Mozaik will treat as a small part.
- Parts at or below this size will have small part handling applied automatically.
- Size can be selected by either total part area or the minimum dimension in either the width or length. The settings should apply if either threshold is met.
Cutout Sequence Options
Small Parts Handling also allows control over:
- Cutout sequence for small parts
- Order in which parts are cut to reduce movement
Waste Pocketing Options
Additional settings include:
- Waste pocketing options for small parts
- Improved material control and cleanup
Result
Once Small Parts Handling options are configured and applied, the Optimizer will process small parts using the selected skins, tabs, and sequencing rules to improve cut quality and part stability.
Additional Notes
- Settings may be adjusted per job depending on material and part size
- Always review nesting results before running a job
