Tips for Success
💡 Use Cabinet Filtering for Phased Production - Build specific ranges of cabinets by using the cabinet filter (e.g., "1-10" for the first batch).
💡 Check Finished Part Size Before Production - Toggle "Display Finished Part Size" to verify final dimensions when edgebanding adds thickness.
💡 Export to Excel for Custom Reports - Use the Select All function to copy cutlists to Excel for adding notes, costs, or custom formulas.
💡 Use Door Cutlist for 5-Piece Doors - The Door Cutlist shows individual rail and stile sizes, perfect for in-shop traditional door manufacturing.
💡 Verify Edgebanding Before Ordering - Check the Edgeband Legend to ensure all materials are correct before placing orders.
💡 Print Hinge Boring Reports for CNC - The Hinge Mounting report provides exact measurements needed for CNC programming.
💡 Filter Before Optimizing - Use room and cabinet filters to optimize specific groups of cabinets rather than your entire project at once.
Understanding Units
At the bottom of the Cutlist Tab, you can select your preferred units:
- mm (millimeters)
- in (inches)
Choose the unit that matches your shop's preference. This setting applies to all measurements in the cutlist display.
Troubleshooting
Problem: Cutlist is empty
✅ Check your filters - You may have selected a material, room, or cabinet range that has no parts.
✅ Verify parts exist - Make sure your project has parts in the selected category.
Problem: Parts showing wrong dimensions
✅ Check "Display Finished Part Size" - You may be viewing pre-edgebanding vs. post-edgebanding sizes.
✅ Verify material selection - Ensure you've selected the correct material type.
Problem: Can't select multiple rooms
✅ Use "Select..." option - Don't use the dropdown directly; click "Select..." to open the multi-select dialog.
Problem: Optimize button not showing
✅ Select a material cutlist - The Optimize button only appears for material-based cutlists like "All Parts" with a material selected.
✅ Check cutlist type - Non-material cutlists (like Door Sizes) don't have the Optimize option.
Problem: Cabinet filter not working
✅ Check your syntax - Use commas for individual cabinets (3,5,9) and hyphens for ranges (12-15).
✅ Verify cabinet numbers exist - Make sure the cabinet numbers you entered actually exist in your project.
Problem: Can't copy to Excel
✅ Select all first - Click the top-left cell to select the entire table before pressing CTRL+C.
✅ Check your application - Ensure Excel (or your target application) is open and ready to receive the paste.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What's the difference between "Door Sizes" and "Door Cutlist"?
A: "Door Sizes" shows only assembled door dimensions (useful for buy-out). "Door Cutlist" shows both assembled sizes AND individual part sizes (rails, stiles, panels) for in-shop manufacturing.
Q: Can I customize which columns appear in my cutlist?
A: The columns are standard, but you can copy the cutlist to Excel and customize it there using the Select All function.
Q: How do I know which parts will go to the optimizer?
A: Only the parts visible in your current filtered cutlist will be sent. Use the room and cabinet filters to control which parts are included.
Q: What does "Display Finished Part Size" actually change?
A: It toggles between showing part dimensions before edgebanding (cutting size) and after edgebanding (final installed size). If you're using 3mm edgebanding on all sides, it adds 6mm to each dimension.
Q: Can I save custom cutlist views?
A: Cutlists are generated dynamically based on your current project. For custom views, export to Excel and save the file.
Q: Why doesn't my "Other" cutlist show any parts?
A: The "Other" cutlist only shows miscellaneous parts like glass. If you haven't used any specialty materials, this cutlist will be empty.
Q: Can I print multiple cutlists at once?
A: You'll need to print each cutlist view separately. Switch to each cutlist type and print individually.
Q: What's the square footage total at the bottom?
A: This shows the total square footage of all parts in the current cutlist view. Useful for estimating material needs.
