The Room Tab is where you create and define the physical space for your design. This is where walls, room dimensions, heights, and layout details are established so cabinets and products can be placed accurately. The tools in this tab allow you to recreate virtually any room layout.
1. Room Name
Enter a name for the room.
- There is no limit to the number of rooms you can create in a project.
- Clear room names make multi-room projects easier to manage.
2. Room Layout Tools
Use the Room Layout Tools to define the shape of your room.
Predesigned Layouts
- Select a predesigned room layout as a starting point.
- Layouts can be edited after selection.
Drawing Walls Manually
You can also draw walls directly on the floor plan:
- Click inside the room layout area
- Move your mouse in the desired direction
- Type the length of the wall and press Enter
- Continue drawing walls
- When complete, press Esc or Right‑Click
Tip: Draw walls in a clockwise direction for best results.
Importing Room Layouts
Mozaik supports importing room data from Etemplates Laser Systems.
- Supported file type:
*.edf - Imported data may include:
- Walls
- Windows
- Doors
- Plumbing fixtures
- Electrical fixtures
3. Room Heights
Setting room heights early speeds up the design process.
When defined, cabinets and walls are automatically placed at the correct elevation and height.
You can specify:
- Wall height
- Base cabinet height
- Cabinet height
- Soffits
4. Wall Thickness
Enter the default wall thickness for the room.
- This value applies to all walls by default
- Individual walls can be overridden if needed
5. Side Clearances
Set your typical side clearances.
- These values are used by the AutoFill feature
- Proper clearances help ensure accurate cabinet placement
6. Save as Defaults
Once your Room settings are configured, you can save them as Defaults.
- This allows new rooms to inherit the same settings
- Ideal for maintaining consistency across projects
7. Room Layout Area
This is the main workspace where walls are drawn and edited.
- A grid is displayed to assist with alignment
- Grid settings can be adjusted at:
- File > Preferences > Drawing Preferences
Floor Shape Tools
- Select Show Floor to view the room floor shape
- Right‑click the floor and choose Shape Floor to create a custom-shaped floor
8. Sidebar Buttons & Shortcut Keys
The sidebar provides quick access to common actions.
Common shortcuts include:
- Save: Ctrl + S
- View room in 3D: Ctrl + Shift + V
- Generate SketchUp model: Ctrl + Shift + S
- Delete selection: Del
- Undo / Redo: Ctrl + Z / Ctrl + Y
- Toggle snapping: Ctrl + Shift + G
- Temporary dimension: Ctrl + Shift + R
- User-added dimension: Ctrl + Shift + D
- Pan: Ctrl + Shift + M
- Zoom: Mouse Wheel
- Zoom to region: Ctrl + Shift + Z
- Zoom to extents: Ctrl + Shift + X
- Toggle layers: Ctrl + Shift + L
- Add note: Ctrl + Shift + N
9. Room Design Tabs
These tabs allow advanced room and wall editing.
You can:
- Edit wall size and angles
- Add bulges for curved walls
- Select and label walls
- Add end caps
- Override wall textures
- Enable wall back, left, and right faces for cabinet placement on multiple sides
10. Graphic Room Item Tabs
Use these tabs to add simple graphic elements to the room.
Available tools include:
- Wall properties
- T‑Walls
- Islands
Tip: Right‑click a cabinet or T‑Wall and select “Notch for T‑Wall” when needed.
