This article walks you through each step of setting up Edge Banding for your jobs.
1: Create Banding Material(s)
The first step is to add the materials you'll be using for Edge Banding. Here's how:
- Go to Libraries > Materials and choose Edgebanding
- Enter the material specifications. When you're finished, click OK to save and exit.
2: Create a Material Template
After adding the materials, you'll need to combine them into a Material Template.
- Go to Libraries > Material Templates > Banding
- You can select an existing template or create a new one by clicking 'New' and entering a name
- There are 4 Part Types, each can have individual Banding selections or a combination.
- Select the Part Type and choose the Material from the dropdown menu.
3: Create a Banding Assignment
Once your Materials and Templates are ready, you need to specify where the Banding will be applied on each Part. To do this:
- Go to Libraries > Edge Band Assignments
- You can select an existing assignment or create a new one
- To edit the Banding, click the far right column under the 'Banding' header for the Part.
- A window will appear showing Front, Left, Back, and Right sides of the Part. You can adjust the Banding in two ways:
- Use the dropdown menu at the bottom
- Click the banding color, then click the side you want to apply that banding to
(In this example, Banding 1 is EdgeBand. The numbers for the others correspond to how they were set in the Material Template.)
4: Select the Material Template
When starting a new Job, you can pick which Material Template to use for Banding in the Material Settings section under the 'Settings' tab in Mozaik.
- Go to the Settings Tab > Material Settings
- Choose the Edge Banding Material Template from the dropdown menu
5: Select the Banding Assignment
Once everything else is set up, the last step is to select which Banding Template you want to use for your Job.
- Go to Edit > Job Parameters and select the parameters for the Job
- Under the 'Other' category, choose your Banding Template in the 'BandTemp' parameter
6: Apply Banding to Doors
To have Banding applied to Doors and Drawers, go to Libraries > Doors and check 'Apply Banding' for each Door and Drawer Front style you want to include.
Please Note: Edge Banding is managed in five areas.
- Materials: Where the materials are created
Material Templates: defines which materials the Banding Assignment uses instead of EdgeBand1, 2, 3, & 4
Edge Band Assignments: where you specify which Parts get Edge Banding; if multiple materials are in a template, this also defines where each banding applies
Parameters: where you select the Edge Banding Assignment for your Job
Libraries > Doors: lets you toggle Banding for each Door or Drawer design
